Identify each type of claim
A financial settlement may need to address support, housing, children’s costs and specific assets. Do not assume that every UAE divorce produces an equal division of all property, or that a divorce judgment settles every ownership dispute. The applicable family-law framework and the evidence relating to each asset must be reviewed.
The federal civil framework
Article 9 of Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2022 addresses a divorced woman’s application for alimony. Cabinet Resolution No. 122 of 2023 also addresses financial compensation and housing assistance. The assessment can involve the duration of marriage, financial circumstances, contributions and other statutory factors. An award is not a guaranteed percentage or a universal fixed amount.
Build an evidence-based proposal
Prepare an inventory showing assets, debts, legal ownership, location and available supporting records. Separate present needs from disputed ownership and proposed long-term arrangements. For a business or overseas asset, identify the documents and any specialist input needed before proposing a value or transfer. We can help turn that information into a negotiation plan and review the formal steps needed to implement it.
Prepare for your consultation
- Income records, bank statements, regular expenses and children’s education or medical costs.
- Property titles, finance agreements, business ownership records and existing valuations.
- Marriage agreements, previous settlements and court orders. Use only records you may lawfully obtain.
Common questions
Will everything be divided 50/50?
There is no safe universal assumption. The governing law, ownership, relevant agreements and nature of each claim must be considered.
Can I obtain temporary support?
The federal civil regulation includes temporary alimony provisions, subject to an application and judicial assessment. Eligibility and the appropriate request depend on the applicable framework and evidence.
